Hebrews 10 says that if Christ did not rise from the dead that our faith is useless and we are still in our sins. But didn't the cross take care of everything? Wasn't atonement complete when Jesus died? How is it that we would still be in our sins if Jesus had not risen? The question is answered by the ancient Israelite sanctuary service. Those services show the forgiveness that Jesus provided at the cross, but they also show that Jesus had a continuing work in the process of atonement after the cross.
